SxSStackListenerCheck - Failed

My Azure Virtual Desktops suddenly stopped all remote connections.

I have the latest RDAgent 1.0.4009.1500 installed.

After a lot of digging around, I uninstalled all SxSStack components and re-installed them. I notice that if I installed the latest SxSStack version SxSStack-1.0.2201.04110, the remote conections fail and I get an error on the Azure portal SxSStackListenerCheck - Failed.

Installing SxSStack-1.0.2111.15400 resolves the issue temporarily until, host automatically upgrades to the latest version of SxSStack.

Can I disable automatic upgrade of SxSStack? and why is this happening?

Thanks

Is there any way to disable auto updating of SxSStack?

It isn't support to disable the auto-update of SxS stack.

We seemed to have stumped the experts.

We opened a ticket with Microsoft back on February 1st because we and our customers are not able to to utilize AVD.

We have a ticket SxSStackListenerCheck failed - TrackingID#2201250040009656

That's all we have - a ticket number!!

No solution, recommendations, suggestions or even guesses?

We tried changing regions, subscriptions and many other options to no avail. Same error.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Any insight on how to solve?

Hello,

Sorry I was away following a breavement in the family.

I have done the following at it is kind of working but obviously not ideal.

I completely removed AVD Agent and SXS Stack (all versions), reboot.

Installed the agent following MS instructions and everything worked after reboot.

At somepoint server updated the SXS Stack to version 1.0.2201.04110 and remote connections stopped working.

I noticed in AddRemove Programs that both versions 1.0.2201.04110 and rdp-sxs211115500 of SXS Stack were installed.

I changed a registry entry "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations" ReverseConnectionListener to rdp-sxs211115500 (older version)

And remote connections started working following a reboot.

Please note however:

And in the pool, host status says “upgrading”

But the remote connections are working.

Thanks for reaching out on Microsoft Q&A Platform.

Firstly, apologies for the delay in responding here and any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
It isn't support to disable the auto-update of SxS stack.

Based on your issue description, this is not an expected behavior. This issue needs deeper investigation. Support team will be able to check and help on this. I would recommend you to open a azure support case.

Remote connections are working but VM status in Azure portal always says "Upgrading..."

Following is logged in VM events.

So the issue is not resolved even though remote connections are working.

You mean about the Registry change? I am afraid that this is just a workaround. We will have a Scaling Plan that will increase the number of the VMs. How will we be able to make everyother VM work with this bug?
