App Service snapshots

In the documentation it is stated that snapshots are taken periodically and this feature is automatically in use. I have already existing App Services which have snapshots enabled as seen in the figure below (oddly on standard tier).

However, when I create a new App Service with the same setup (region, pricing tier (premium/standard), OS), this section is missing from the Backups blade. Can't find the reason why the section is missing: Do I have to configure something to see them through portal e.g. the plan, or are the automatic backups that are on by default in a new App Service the same as the snapshots on an older App Service? I wanted just to test App Service snapshots in a new clean environment which is hard if they cannot be found :D.

Thanks for bringing this our attention. Thats odd behavior.

When did you create the original App Service that has the snapshot feature? Is your new App Services running on an App Service environment? because ASE does not currently support snapshots.

Lastly, can you please share your current specific setup (region, pricing tier (premium/standard), OS), so we can try to repro this on our end to see if this is a
potential bug.

Hi Grace,

thanks for your reply. The App Service plan was created last year (May). Some of the App Services were created last year, but some early this year. All of them have the snapshot functionality enabled (because of the plan?). The new App Services that I've tested were not running on ASE. At the moment, I have couple test App Services and plans: one running on S1, North Europe, Linux and one running on P1v2, Central US, Windows. Both App Services have automatic backups enabled by default, but no snapshot section is present. Should the snapshot section appear immediately, and should the feature be available for standard tier? The "not-working" environment is running under Visual Studio Enterprise Subscription (the other is not) can this be the culprit? E.g. do I need to enable something or can something be misconfigured for the option not to appear?
