The SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER service terminated unexpectedly

Hi, we have stumbled on some issues with SCCM 2111 (hotfix installed)

We are setting up a High Availability infrastructure with 2 Sites Active and passive and remote SQL and DPs.

The Site servers are behaving oddly because the sms_site_component Service shuts down repedetly and it wont start up again unless i manually do it but then between 1-10 minutes its down again.

in the Server Manager logs i have found the following.

"The SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 101 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 300000 milliseconds: Restart the service."

I have tried to reset site several times, i have failed over to the passive site server but same results.
I have checked the SQL FQDN and its correct since we only have one SQL server its not pointing to a cluster.

I have also found some odd errors in HMAN.LOG
Error: Could not create certificate binary

Im afraid i have hit a wall in investigating this so if anyone has any ideas please feel free to help :)

Hi,

Could we know what is the event ID, is it 7031? Please examine the SMS\Logs\Sitecomp.log for possible causes, it records details about the maintenance of the installed site components on all site system servers in the site.

Hi there,

Have you tried installing the latest service pack for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007?

It is available from this Microsoft website: http://www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?FamilyID=3318741a-c038-4ab1-852a-e9c13f8a8140

Also, make sure to apply this hotfix, you must have System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 installed on the computer.

The SMS_Site_Component_Manager service stops unexpectedly when you try to install Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 or reinstall a specific component after an unsuccessful installation attempt

Hi and thanks for reply

We are running SCCM 2111 CB with latest hotfix installed. Would this SP apply for our setup?

/Thanks Jonas

Hi all,

i think i solved the issue by setting the sitecomp.exe to Windows8 compatibility mode. Probably not MS best practice and i sent a ticket to MS about it.

I dont know if this generates other issues but now the service is up and not crashing every few minutes.
