Hello, I have a problem with using my ftp server on windows 11. I can see all files through file explorer but when I try to open a file, Microsoft edge starts and display only new tab.

It's like you're not hearing everyone.

So, I can open an FTP link from my file explorer.

But, say there is a PDF in file explorer in the FTP path, if I click on that PDF, it tries to open in Edge.

    My defaults are all correct.

What you are suggesting (incorrectly) to users is actually to go to default apps by protocol (the p stands for protocol) and select File Explorer.

However, File Explorer is not an option.

The options are: Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, and Look for an App in the Microsoft Store.

If there was an option to search for the correct app, that would be great.

    Hi @wojtek flach

I think that's because the default app to open FTP protocol is set to Edge in your computer, but Edge doesn't support FTP protocol now. You can refer to this doc and search for "Remove FTP support" to check the detailed information.

To check the default app for FTP protocol, you can refer to the following steps:

    1. Click the search icon on the bottom of desktop taskbar.
    2. Type Default apps and press Enter.
    3. Type ftp in the search bar at the top of the Default apps UI.
    4. Check the default app for URL: File Transfer Protocol below.
    5. Click to change the default app for it if necessary.

Following Yu Zhou-MSFT directions, Give me the options to confirm Edge as the default, or open Microsoft Store app search for FTP apps. Once I find one, I do not get the option to use it though, only Edge... Best option I can think of is a registry key fix, but I am still looking for the registry key for associated file links, instead of file types which every forum and "how to" page focuses on...
