When user is not a member of any group - transitiveMemberOf returns Bad Request for me, whereas memberOf returns empty list.
Is it expected or transitiveMemberOf should also return empty list?
I am not able to repro your issue at my end. I tried transitiveMemberOf and memberOf for a user who is not a part of any group but for both the endpoint i'm getting empty list.

Hence it is not the expected behaviour transitiveMemberOf should also return empty list for users not member of any group, directory roles etc.
