Inune - Autopilot Reset - does it require OEM Windows?

Hi,

I recently purchased W10 laptops and immediately updated them to W11 with media from Microsoft. Now, when I press "Autopilot Reset" within Intune or try and "generalise" the system locally, it goes to reboot, I get to the Troubleshoot screen which says "Troubleshoot or shutdown". I then shut down and start the laptop. When the user logs back in it say "Windows reset failed, no system changes were made".

Is this because I am not using an OEM version of Windows? Or why can I not use the Autopilot Reset option?

Kind regards,

No, there is no OEM restriction for this feature. Have you reviewed the Windows event logs for more info?

Is there a reason you are using Autopilot reset instead of normal Windows reset?

Hi @Jason-MSFT , neither Autopilot Reset or a Windows Reset works.

@TechnicalHero, For our issue, as a test, we suggest to do windows reset on this PC and see if it works.

If it is with the same error, I suggest to try the methods in the following link to see if it can be fixed

Hope it can help.

Hi @Crystal-MSFT , I have done those, and I still get the same result. Any other suggestions?

@TechnicalHero, Thanks for the reply. From your test, it seems the issue is also on windows reset. As Autopilot reset include windows reset phase. I suggest to firstly fix windows reset issue. From your description, I notice the above suggestions can't fix it. Here. i have added the windows 11 support tag to see if windows 11 support can be included.

As a quick method, you can also consider open a new thread and only add "windows -11" tag to find the windows support.

Thanks for the understanding.

Hi @Crystal-MSFT

Thanks, I can Reset W11 with physical installation media. But not from the W11 itself, or the AutoPilot Reset.

Kind regards,
