No Internet DNS on Wi-Fi with home ethernet adapter attached

I have 2 network adapters.

1) An ethernet adapter for a connection between 2 computers only, connected to a hub. 10.0.0.x addresses. No internet, no DNS. I have a DNS server on this Windows server that is not being used and the service is disabled.

2) A wireless adapter that works fine. The wireless network works fine. This is the internet connection. DNS via this adapter works fine when ethernet is unplugged. 192.168.0.x network.

Problem: When the ethernet adapter is connected and working there is no internet DNS. Every browser returns a DNS probe error. What is going on that it won't go out through the wireless adapter for internet DNS? Why is it even attempting to go out through the ethernet adapter for internet connectivity?

I see many people have this issue but I don't see a solution. Hey Microsoft, it should be obvious which adapter to use for internet when the other is not connected to the internet. I don't get why this is even an issue.

Looks like I fixed the problem (so far so good) by running Route from a command prompt. I followed the directions offered here: [https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/64451b61-b8d6-4e16-a396-ea418753f1c6/force-internet-connection-to-desired-network-adapter?forum=w7itpronetworking]
