Map the same shared disk to different file server cluster

Hello,

I need your help regarding the below question:

We currently have clustered file server running on windows server 2012r2 physical machines ( two nodes in site A and two nodes in site B ), we are planning to upgrade to windows server 2019 as follows:

  1. Installing two new windows server 2019 Virtual

  2. Attach the storage LUNs to Hyper-V host using WWPN

  3. Shut down the physical nodes in site B.

  4. and repeat the same steps for site A.

  5. Creating the same configuration as the current file server such as DFS NameSpace and FSRM.

are there any technical issues for the above scenario especially attaching the same LUN to different clusters with the different OS running at the same time

Thanks In advance

Hi,

To upgrade the failover cluster you can follow the Cluster OS Rolling Upgrade. This enables you to upgrade the operating system of cluster nodes without stopping the Hyper-V workloads.

Please refer to this link for more details.
