Server 2019 RDS websites hosted in Germany Slow

Hey there!! I Have a Server 2019 on VM running RDS with approx 20 users. Server is part of a domain. ADDC is on another VM running DNS. Server is in a pool with 4 other servers on domain. Users log in and access on premise hosted CRM, email, Teams and O365 apps via RDS. They also need to access a couple of web portals used via Google Chrome browser. Internet speed is fine and general browsing is not an issue, except for 3 websites that are all hosted in Germany. The sites time out, refuse connection and are very very slow when they actually do work. When i say slow, a 200KB pdf service manual can take minutes to download.

If the user minimised RDS session, and uses desktop PC or laptop, these German websites work perfectly everytime. The Desktop/Laptop PC's are not domain connected. I should add that this is Located in Australia.

I have setup google DNS forwarder in the DNS on management server but it makes no difference. This issue is something I have never seen in over 20 years of I.T.

Please throw some ideas at me. What am I overlooking?

1 . Reboot all RDS servers.
2. ipconfig /flushdns

Hi @CiscoNerd1-4784

Thank you for your question and reaching out.

I can understand from your description that you are facing issue with some of your websites are slow in RDS environment.

  1. Please verify Gateway and DNS ip should be same of from all your RDS servers.

  2. Disable any Antivirus program or Windows firewall you may have for temporary purpose.

  3. Please check if there are any Rules or QoS at Firewall or Router level.

  4. Please try to run Tracert from RDS server for these three websites

  5. Please run gpresult /h C:\temp\gpresult.html on RDS server and see if there is any GPO related to Internet connection or for proxy settings.

Hope this answers your question :)
Thank you.
