Mistakenly deleted HyperV Integration Services on Server 2012 R2

In the fog of war and having a bit of false memory, I uninstalled HyperV integration services on a Server 2012 R2 box.

It was V2V'ed and thinking HyperV Integration Services still came from an "ISO" instead of bundlues updates I did a DISM uninstall of IntegrationServices and then sc deleted all the services.
Bit worried about future updates now that I realized its bundled with windows updates.

So I downloaded the cab and reinstalled the update, but the services didn't appear back.

How can I recreate them?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
Should be able to export the service subkeys from another one and import on this one. Let me know if you need the REG files.

Yep. Good idea.

I have other 2012 R2 machines. Thanks for sticking with me.

The file (vmguest.iso) is found in \Windows\System32 on your 2012 R2 host. You can manually install the integration tools by mounting the vmguest.iso to the VM's CDRom drive, then reinstall the integration services.

Just checking if there's any progress or updates?

The VM was 2012 R2. The host was (now wiped) a 2016 HyperV host. I looked for vmguest.iso in system32 before wiping it, none to be found.

Yes, VMGuest.ISO does not exist on a 2016 host. Here you go.

I'm unable to install. This is no longer running under Hyper-V. But as I understand it, the hyperv services just come preinstalled now as part of the OS (which is why I want to put them back, in case they break future upgrades)

Sounds like you may have tried to install on the host? Which is not possible nor is it correct. From the guest config add the image to the DVD drive, then within the guest OS run setup.exe from the DVD drive to install integration services.

No. This VM is no longer running under HyperV AT ALL.

Ok, sounds good, then I'm not sure what problem you're trying to solve.

The hyperv services are installed by default onto any machine, hyperv or not. Even physical machines.
