Screensharing not working in official Teams client (1.3.00.16851) Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Greetings,

I've been using Teams (v1.3.00.16851) on my Ubuntu 20.04 LTS laptop since April and have had no issues until recently. For whatever reason the share screen button is blank and does not display the 'screen #' or the application windows.

I've tried downgrading to version 1.3.00.5153 from the Microsoft Repo and still have same issue. I'm at a loss on why it just does not work anymore and it is an important feature I use frequently to collaborate with my work team.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Example of issue in picture below:

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

I'm having the same issue on openSUSE 15.2 with Teams version 1.3.00.25560 (64-bit) (and the previous version). I'm using KDE 5.19 on X11.

I am also having this same issue on Fedora 32 on Gnome using X11. Even though I am not using i3 I attempted to rename the rect-overlay file without any success.
Teams Version 1.3.00.25560 (64-bit).

This is clearly an issue in the 1.3.00.25560 version on Debian. I had not experienced these issues in the prior updates, but, when you start sharing the screen, the client crashes. Besides the client, the entire system becomes unstable, in the latest version, when this happens. I do not have i3.

Here is my version details:

Hi ChristopherRamos-6938,

Do you have i3 WM?

It seems that i3 causes this issue.

You could try to rename this file: /usr/share/teams/resources/app.asar.unpacked/node_modules/slimcore/bin/rect-overlay

Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (kernel 5.8.0-44-generic, Wayland is disabled), Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.4855,

I had the same problem until I uninstalled the proprietary Nvidia driver. I am currently using the open-source "xserver-xorg-video-nouveau". No more issues with screen sharing.
