Portal Tiles Font Size Change

The font size of the resource name in a 2x2 tile in my portal dashboard has increased since yesterday (22/03/2022), such that the whole servername is no longer visible, using ellipses to denote truncation.

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

Same problem here for tiles of storage accounts, virtual network and some other.

Users at my company have also noticed and complained about this change.
If Microsoft can either revert this change, or give users control over the font size in tiles, that would be appreciated.

Hello @PaintinPaul-8497, @fhtino, @BollwerkPete-1417,

I understand how inconvenient this is for the users. I have escalated this to azure portal product team through an internal escalation process. I have requested them to prirotize this issue. I see Paul has already raised a support request for this. I have tagged the support request to the escalation. Please standby while I get back.

Hello @PaintinPaul-8497,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A platform. I looked up on this issue by creating a new dashboard in my subscription and don't see the font size increased for the names in 2x2 tiles. You can do 2 things,
1. Create a new dashboard and add a 2x2 tile for a VM resource that has a lengthy name and see if the font is same. If not, you can create a new dashboad by resetting the existing dashboard.

2. If the issue continues to be the same, try using a different browser and see if it is the same case. Also you can use a bigger size tile as we don't have a way to adjust the font size for the resource names in tiles of dashboard under portal.

Please "Accept as Answer" and Upvote if any of the above helped to help others in the community looking for remediation for similar issues

Hi @Prrudram-MSFT .

Unfortunately, doing all those things you suggest results in the same situation I'm afraid.

I created a new blank dashboard, searched for a VM resource and pinned it to the new dashboard, resized the tile to 2x2 and the font size is still too big to be readable.

I have also tried Edge 99.0.1150.46 (my default), Chrome 98.0.4758.102 and Firefox 98.02, all show the same issue - the font is bigger than it was 3 days ago, and is no longer readable for most resources, meaning a 2x2 tile is now useless in most cases.

Might I respectfully suggest that someone must have a way to adjust the font size for the resource names in tiles, because they quite clearly have done so in the past few days.

Paul.

@Prrudram-MSFT same problem here. Tried on different browsers, PCs and Subscriptions. For some resource type, like VM and Storage Account, portal tiles are using a too big font for resource name.

Fingers crossed we should see this problem being reverted within a couple of weeks.

Hello @PaintinPaul-8497,

That's correct. I talked to the team who is working on the fix for tentative dates. They said a couple of weeks. Till then using a bigger tile could be a workaround for now.

@PaintinPaul-8497,

Issue Definition : Portal Tiles Font Size Change(Dashboard)
Symptoms: The font size of the resource name in a 2x2 tile in my portal dashboard has increased since (22/03/2022)

Cause:
We recently rolled out a new resource tiles where we changed the icon position along with other changes and so they are seeing less of the title. We have worked to changing the icon size and the font itself to accommodate more. In the meantime customer can always change the tile size to accommodate their need.

Resolution:
Deployed the fix from azure service side in all the regions effected and that restored the tiles font size back as it was before.

My users are telling me that the "old" way used to show the VM status in a 2x1 tile, but even with the font change fix, only the VM title looks the same as before.
The status showing in a 2x1 tile is still gone.
Can this be restored?

Since the 'fix' was implemented, I've noticed that the details in some tiles are different to others.
What I'm seeing in some cases is;

<VMNAME>

Status
Running

Operating System
Windows

while in other tiles I am seeing

<VMNAME>

Location
UK South

Subscription ID
<GUID>

This might be a different issue, of course, but it seems odd that it appears to have occurred at the same time as the font size issue.

Can someone at MS comment? Do we need a new case to investigate missing/different tile summary information?

Thanks,

Hello @PaintinPaul-8497, and @BollwerkPete-1417,

Thanks for reaching out. This needs to be tackled as a different issue at the moment even though the issue coincides with the period when we fixed the font size. Can i request one of you to raise a separate thread and tag me, for a better tracking this new issue with VM status not showing? I will work with the concerned product teams internally and get back.
