What does Auxiliary Mode Enabled Network Interfaces mean?

In some of my Azure subscriptions, under "Usage + quotas", I see an entry for "Auxiliary Mode Enabled Network Interfaces" that is at capacity (2/2):

What does that mean? I tried searching the documentation but I haven't found any matches.

I did not create these Azure subscriptions or the resources in them, but I am now partly responsible for maintaining them, so I am not fully aware of the history of their configurations.

    Hello @Chris Herdt ,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & hope you are doing well.

I understand you see an entry for "Auxiliary Mode Enabled Network Interfaces" that is at capacity (2/2) under "Usage + quotas" in your Azure subscription and you would like to know what does this mean.

I checked internally and found a few cases raised by other customers with the same query and below is the RCA provided by our backend team on this:

"Customers creating and updating multiple number of network interfaces may experience a false quota exhaustion alert for "Auxillary Mode Enabled Network Interfaces". This limit is not enforced on any customer resources and is incorrectly exposed from the backend due to a bug. Therefore, it does not cause any service or deployment interruption. However, customers querying their quota may see this limit getting hit which may cause false, non actionable alerts. We are working on a fix which will roll out in ~2 months to all PROD. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused."

Kindly let us know if the above helped or you need further assistance on this issue.
