AD Integrated DNS Isolation testing for scavenging setting change

Hi,

I'm looking into an issue I'm having with AD integrated DNS zones, I need to build a test environment to make sure my config changes are OK before going live.

So far I've set up a secondary domain controller with DNS role, replicated the domain and confirmed all entries are in the DNS server.

I have changed the scavenging time settings, but the primary DNS server will continuously overwrite the scavenged entries.

What I want is for the test DNS server to receive all zone updates from the primary server, but scavenge the records on its own interval. Is this possible, and how would I go about configuring it? Thank you

Hello @GarryMcCooey-7144

Zone aging and scavenging need be done at the server level as well as the zone level.

Did you set on all this 2 places and check if it works isolated? If not, I don't think it possible.
