Can you force a naming convention on files saved to sharepoint?

We are starting on a project of scanning thousands of files. We will be saving them to a sharepoint. We have designed a naming convention of the format

12345 - YYYYMMDD - (descriptor)

where 12345 is the badge number, YYYYMMDD is scan date and (descriptor) is a word from a short, defined list of descriptors (ie. card, certificate, JPM)

Is there anyway I can force/help the people scanning to get the convention correct?

Hi @MichelleUnser-0403 ,
1. Only Office files force users save such properties (other files require online properties edition+CheckIn, what is a very boring work).
2. When One download these files from sharepoint and share by e-mail, USB drives, etc, these files don't keep such properties.
3. You could change the filename to keep these files such properties.

Thank you for the response. I had seen the post you referenced but was hoping for something more current (it's from 2010) with maybe recommendations for the 3rd party applications.
