Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session

Hi all,

We have 2 users using a Windows Server Azure VM to access some IP based restricted resources.

I was wondering if it would be possible to switch to a VM that that uses Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session.

From the technical perspective I can deploy a stand-alone VM using this image from the Azure gallery.

All the documentations mention Windows multi-session in correlation with AVD. Considering that we only have 2 users, it does not make a lot of sense to deploy AVD.

Are there any restrictions/limitations in using Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session outside AVD?

Although this OS is optimised for Azure Virtual Desktop, you can use it outside of AVD and RDP directly to the host. There is no additional cost of the AVD service however and this will provide you with a secure mechanism for connecting to your host VM so I would usually recommend to go with an AVD deployment even for just two users.

Please be aware of the BYOL licensing requirements however as the user licensing is NOT included in the VM pricing.
