Hello,
I have a Sharepoint modern communication site. I have a list uploaded on it. In the search box of the site, users of the site search different keywords. Some of them appear in the list and are listed as results to the query, some of them no. I have found a way to extract the Queries without result from the Sharepoint site and I see a list of terms which seem to have been searched on the site and not founded.
The problem is: in the list of queries without an answer I have discovered keywords that DO have an answer, keywords that exist in my List and that are listed when I search them in the search box on the site.
How would you explain this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi @RADU Electra ,

    I can reproduce your situation.
You can take the following methods to solve:
First, Please check whether you have enabled the search indexing at the site level.

    1. Gear Icon > Site Settings.
    2. Under Search, click on Search and offline availability.
      193413-1.png
    3. In the Indexing Site Content section, change Allow this site to appear in search results? Confirm it is “Yes”.

Second, Please check whether you have enabled the search indexing at the list level.

    1. Navigate to the list
    2. Gear Icon > List Settings
    3. Click on Advanced settings

    4. Scroll down to the middle of the page to the Search section and change the radio button for Allow items from this list to appear in search results? Confirm it is “Yes"
      193424-3.png
      1. Click OK of the bottom

Third, Please check whether item have unique permission.
If there is no unique permission for item, the search is as below.
    193377-12.png
    193384-4.png
    193379-5.png

If item has the unique permission, search result will appear the problem as you have met.
I use an item to give you an example, Remove the permission of user”Am jian” to ite1.

    193428-7.png
    193337-8.png
    193451-9.png

Then the search results will be:
    193404-10.png
    193452-11.png

You can see there still is ite1 in the result on the site. Please wait for a while, the following results will appear.
    193367-13.png

So, please check if you have set the unique permission for item, if so, you can delete it.

    Thanks,
    Yanli Jiang

    Hi @RADU Electra ,

Short question to double check. Do all list items inherit the permissions of the parent list? Or do the items which you expect to be found have unique permissions?

Search results are security trimmed. So, it might be a case of that the users do not have enough permissions on those specific items.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your answer.
I don't know how to answer your question. I'm not sure about permissions for list items. All I know is I didn't set any particular permission for any item, I uploaded them all the same way.
It's only on the whole list on which I remember I settled some permissions.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Electra
