AVD Windows Server 2019 vs Windows Server 2019 vm

Hello, there are 2 ways to have a Windows Server 2019 Datacenter running on Azure. first option is Azure Virtual Desktop with this image selected. Second option is to create a vm and install the image. Is there really a difference between these 2 options? Thank you.

Azure Virtual Desktop is a virtualised desktop or remote app solution, primarily designed to give end users access to desktop applications hosted on VMs. Generally these session host VMs will be Windows 10 or Windows 11 machines with the client applications installed rather than a Windows Server OS. If you are looking to deploy a server then you can either choose a marketplace image (e.g. Windows Server 2019 Datacenter) or else bring your own custom image but in most cases AVD is not used with Windows Server images.

If this doesn't answer your question then can you explain in more detail what you are looking to achieve?
