Teams Add-in slows Outlook

Hello Teams Community


Please I need your help on this issue.


Outlook shows an error saying the Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office is slowing down Outlook.


Happens to several users in our organization.


I have Tried the following, still the issue remains :

  • Reinstalling Teams

  • Clearing Teams cache

  • Repairing Office

  • Enabling/Disabling the Add-in

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

This seems to be happening to our entire company at the moment, and there is another forum with the same question being asked. So i don't think it is a one off issue.

Hi @66304432,

For the affected users, please follow the steps below and see if it can help:

  1. Close both Outlook and Teams.

  2. Uninstall Microsoft Teams and Teams Machine-Wide Installer from Control Panel.

  3. Navigate to %localappdata%\Microsoft, delete the folders: SquirrelTemp, Teams, TeamsMeetingAddin and TeamsPresenceAddin:

  4. Download and re-install Microsoft Teams.


In case the issue persists, it's suggested to add the registry key below for the problematic users:
(Important: Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.)

Location: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Resiliency\DoNotDisableAddinList
Value Name: TeamsAddin.Connect
Value: 1(DWORD 32 bit)

We followed the steps the only change I noticed is that the loading time is not showing anymore. But the error is still there in Outlook.

Please open the registry editor(regedit), go to:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Resiliency

If "DisabledItems" is listed there, delete it and then restart Outlook to check the result.

By the way, seems like the second image you shared above is broken, in case the issue persists, would you mind uploading the image again? Thanks.

Just checking in to see if you have had a chance to check the registry key mentioned above. Any update, feel free to post back.

I followed the below steps and unfortunately it didn't work :

Uninstalling and clearing cache folders didn't fix
Changing the registry key didn't fix, even after a reboot



The only change I noticed is that the loading time is not showing anymore. But the error is still there in Outlook.

Many users in our organization are now reporting the same issue, the number of reports are growing since a few days.
