Teams Add-in slows Outlook

Hello Teams Community

Please I need your help on this issue.

Outlook shows an error saying the Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office is slowing down Outlook.

Happens to several users in our organization.

I have Tried the following, still the issue remains :

Reinstalling Teams
Clearing Teams cache
Repairing Office
Enabling/Disabling the Add-in

This seems to be happening to our entire company at the moment, and there is another forum with the same question being asked. So i don't think it is a one off issue.

Was there ever any resolution on this issue? All of my users are having this same issue for about a month now. I've been working with MS Premier support for a few weeks, and they haven't been able to resolve the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Phil Blake, I dug out my notes from my support ticket (they were of no help, I just happened to stumble on this in the Teams Admin Center). This may not be your issue but it ended up being ours.

I found the solution to this. The TAC was managed by someone else before I came on board. The logo that gets embedded into your email invites was hosted on a site that has since ceased to exist. I’m guessing TAC was trying to poll the site for the image but couldn’t find it, thus the delay. I replaced the image url with one that is managed by us; and it seems to be working as intended now.

For the affected users, please follow the steps below and see if it can help:

Close both Outlook and Teams.

Uninstall Microsoft Teams and Teams Machine-Wide Installer from Control Panel.

Navigate to %localappdata%\Microsoft, delete the folders: SquirrelTemp, Teams, TeamsMeetingAddin and TeamsPresenceAddin:

Download and re-install Microsoft Teams.

In case the issue persists, it's suggested to add the registry key below for the problematic users:
(Important: Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.)

Location: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Resiliency\DoNotDisableAddinList
Value Name: TeamsAddin.Connect
Value: 1(DWORD 32 bit)

We followed the steps the only change I noticed is that the loading time is not showing anymore. But the error is still there in Outlook.

How can we remove error

Please open the registry editor(regedit), go to:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Resiliency

If "DisabledItems" is listed there, delete it and then restart Outlook to check the result.

By the way, seems like the second image you shared above is broken, in case the issue persists, would you mind uploading the image again? Thanks.

I followed the below steps and unfortunately it didn't work :

Uninstalling and clearing cache folders didn't fix
Changing the registry key didn't fix, even after a reboot

The only change I noticed is that the loading time is not showing anymore. But the error is still there in Outlook.

Many users in our organization are now reporting the same issue, the number of reports are growing since a few days.

Hi @IBN and @Sharon Fields ,

Could you collect the version information for both Outlook and Teams client? For Outlook, you can go to File > Office Account > About Outlook. As per Teams, you can go to the ellipsis (...) menu next to the profile picture, choose About > Version.

Hi @IBN ,

I am also running Outlook for Microsoft 365 Version 2203 but 64-bit, and my Teams version is 1.5.00.11163 (64-bit). Currently, I haven't encountered this issue.

So in order to help eliminate the issue, it's suggested to check for updates for your Teams client by going to the ellipsis (...) menu next to their profile picture and selecting Check for updates.

Besides, while the bitness of Teams and Microsoft 365 Apps installed on the device don't have to match, in case it's a factor for this particular issue, I'd recommend trying to uninstall Office and reinstall a 64-bit version instead to see if there would be any difference.
