DNS setup for hub spoke topology with On Prem connection

I was reading several article on setting up DNS for our public domain lets say - abc.com.
We don't want to tie Azure AD with DNS.
Has Site to Site connection with On Prem resource.
Established Hub Spoke topology

With these architecture in mind, we want the users from on-prem VM as well Azure VM,
When they type vm1.abc.com, it should be resolved both in on-prem and azure cloud.
Can you please guide what should be the appropriate architecture for this.
Do we need to setup a DNS VM in Azure Or Just Public DNS PaaS will do?
Do we need an On-Prem DNS forwarder for this?

Hi @DevBuster-3739

Thank you for asking this question on the Microsoft Q&A Platform.

I understand that both types of machines are part of the same domain, right?

In that case, you should not do anything.

If they are not part of the same domain, you should create a private Azure DNS zone

Then set a Conditional Forward on your on-premises DNS Server

Hope this helps,
