Is it possible to join my active directory domain joined devices to azure AD For activation of windows 10 licenses.

In my environment I'm running windows server 2016 Active directory. All of my users are using laptops running windows 10 and are joined to active directory domain.

I recently bought windows 10 licenses through office 365.

Have already set up azure ad connect and synced user objects to azure AD then assigned them windows 10 licenses from the portal.

I need to activate windows 10 licenses for them,

my question is will i need to join the devices to azure AD by asking the users to add their accounts then sign in to the device using their cloud credentials here
`Go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school, .`

If so what will be the impact? , will i still be able to manage the devices using on-premises active directory.

@bernardmwanza-0900 , We are extremely sorry for the delay in response on this thread. As far as I understand , you are looking for information whether you need to ask your users to add their accounts and then sign-in to the device using their cloud credentials or not and what are the impact of the same. You have mentioned that you have users with their laptops (win10/11) joined locally to on-prem active directory and all are synced to Azure AD . The user objects have been assigned win 10 licenses already in the portal . The windows 10/11 license can only be assigned to the users . Once any user uses the access "work or school account" in to the machine who has been licensed with Windows 10/11 License , the machine would automatically get activated as explained in the article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/deploy-enterprise-licenses . You will still be able to manage the devices from on-premise AD without any issue.
