Error on EDGE sign in Error code: 5, 2, 0

Hi,

I've configured EDGE to auto sign in fgor my domain users successfully over the summer holidays but for some reason now its stopped working.

The error I am getting is

We can't sign you in at the moment
The Microsoft Edge team has been notified of this issue. Please try again later.
Error code: 5, 2, 0

No other error is displayed so I am stuck.

I've removed all Group policies for the user but it still persists. Any ideas?

jHopefully someone will help but I've also noticed

We've detected this account on your device and we need to verify it before you can complete sign in, and set up sync.

I've got MFA enabled for the staff but I've been through all this and its still not working.

Hi simcfc73,

Which kind of account do you use to sign in the Edge browser and which version of Edge are you using? I find that domain joined device uses ConfigureOnPremisesAccountAutoSignIn policy to sign in automatically and I want to confirm with you if you're using this approach to sign in. If not, please provide the detailed steps about how you set the automatically sign in. Besides, I also find a similar thread and you can refer to the accepted answer.

Hi,

It was working perfectly until the teachers in my school came back. When they open EDGE it comes up with a prompt to say they have automatically signed into EDGE and to click OK. Previously they clicked OK and the sync started and I got a nice green tick. Now I get a prompt saying

We've detected this account on your device and we need to verify it before you can complete sign in, and set up sync.

I use a domain account to sign in, I have the GPO setup correctly.

Edge automatically updates so its on version 85.0.564.44

The proactive authentication isn't working either, this was working so I could click on outlook.com and it would automatically log me into our emails...now it prompts for credentials

One other thing that isn't working is OUTLOOK. It shows the users name so is getting that but it just hangs at getting ready.

The only thing I can think has changed is I enabled the password reset policy in Azure.

I am using conditional access

Hi simcfc73,

As you're using conditional access, I suggest you can also ask in AAD related forum and add related tags. You can also refer to this article about troubleshooting sign-in problems with Conditional Access.

In the browser side, you can try to disable the sync and again try to turn it on. Besides, you can try to delete the User Data folder and create new profiles which is the solution of this thread.

We were experiencing the same issue" Error 5,2,0 " and some users just had "Error 0"

I was able to resolve the issue by making Edge open in compatibility mode for Windows 7. However we found that the compatibility mode only stuck for the initial launch of the application. Any time the user closed the application and reopened the compatibility mode settings were reverted.

We ultimately had to add a registry entry to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
to always have Edge open in compatibility mode for Windows 7.

New String Value
Value Name: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe
Value Data: WIN7RTM
