Permissiions issue on hub site for the migrated sub site

We are planning to migrate SharePoint onpremisis to online

Ex:
Source site has site collection with 2 sub sites with unique permissions and one with inherit permissions
We have made stop unique permissions before migration for the sub site which is having unique permissions and left as it is for sub sit which is inheriting.
we migrated these 2 sub sites as site collection in the destination and now my question is will these 2 migrated site collections when associated with hub
will it pick up source hub site permissions?

Hi @sns1 ,

When migrated sites associated with a hub site, they won’t pick up the hub site permissions.

Actually, there is an option to sync hub permissions to associated sites, after we enable it, there will be only a new “Hub Visitors” group synced to associated sites.

NOTE:Syncing with hub permissions will not over ride or change site permissions.

First, the hub owner need to enable hub permissions to sync to associated sites.

Then, associated site owners can choose to sync with hub permissions.

Then you can find the group "Hub Visitors"

Hi Yanlijiyang,

Thank you for the response. Please clarify below 2 questions:

What about other groups after syncing, will it not sync permissions to associated site?

After syncing with out over riding , new hub group also present separately, am I correct?

Hi @sns1 ,
For your first question:
When you sync hub permissions to associated sites, it increases access for viewers across all sites in the hub. Except for the "Hub Visitor" group, the permissions of other groups will not be synchronized to the associated site.
For your second question:
If "new hub group" you said is "Hub Visitor", you're right.

Regards
