KIOSK - Remote Desktop to app

Hello,

I have a Kiosk (Notebook) where i would like to have a single-app(Remote Desktop). This RDP file should remotely open our internal application from server "X" on Kiosk so users in our company can use this Kiosk just for this one specific application. Now we are using the RDWeb to start this application remotely.

What should I use? Create a package with predefined RDP file(With all parameters that are needed to start this app) and then create a new application in app market in Endpoint? Or use RDP from Microsoft store and then make some configuration? Or is there any other option?

Thank you
Br, Petr Gold

@GoldPetr-1943 Thanks for posting in our Q&A. From your description, did you mean that you want to add Remote Desktop app as a single app in this kiosk device and access the internal application in the server "X“ via Remote Desktop app? If there is any misunderstanding, please correct me.

Did you set kisok mode via intune? If yes, it is suggested to try to deploy Remote Desktop as a store app via intune and add Remote Desktop in kiosk profile.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/configuration/kiosk-settings-windows#single-app-full-screen-kiosk

Then if you have some specific configurations about Remote Desktop, please deploy configuration profiles or scripts to it.

Hope it will give you some ideas.

Hi,

Yes you´re correct. I want to open application on Kiosk via the RDP. I have set up Kiosk in Endpoint. Should I use a remote desktop from Microsoft store and then add it to Endpoint app store? Or is there any other possibility how to add RDP to Kiosk? I tried few scenarios but i don´t know how I can add RDP to Endpoint so i can assign it to Kiosk profile

Thank you

@GoldPetr-1943 Thanks for your response.

Honestly, I haven't actually done it and I just share some ideas. I have noticed that we can add store app in application type in kiosk profile.

As I said before, please try to add Remote Desktop app as a Microsoft store app in intune portal and add Remote Desktop app in kiosk profile. Here is an example about how to deploy a Microsoft Store App via Intune:

Note: Non-Microsoft link, just for the reference.

Hope it is what you want.

Hi,

Thank you for help but it´s not working. When I add a Remote Desktop from Microsoft store application doesn´t start. Same If i try to add RDP with AUMID. So I guess that it´s not possible to do that.
But i can make a workaround. I can set a single app kiosk with edge browser. Then set a RDWeb as a homepage so peoples can login and download the rdp link. But when i try to download a file i get a error message: couldn't download - blocked. The message is visible on downloaded file. No pop-up message. Do you think that this scenario is real?

Thank you :)
