Unable to connect to Azure Linux VM

Hi,

For past couple of days , We are facing this issue where We are not able to connect to 2 of our linux VMs via putty.
It is giving "access denied" error but same user and password that used to work perfectly until few days back.

From portal, it is showing message "virtual machine status is not ready" for those Vms.

We tried rebooting them, and also tried redeployment but it did not help. Our subscription is having basic plan so can not take support from Microsoft over the issue. Pls suggest.

Thanks

Hello @ChandraManral-1097 ,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft QnA.
I understand that you are unable to connect to your Linux VMs using the same username and password that you used two days back.
Have you tried to reset password for the same user by navigating to "Reset password" section? Are you still not able to connect to the VM even after resetting password for an existing username, or creating a new username password?
Let me know if the above step you have already tried, then I can accordingly suggest further steps. Thanks.

I tried creating new user or changing password for existing one via portal but it shows message
"The VM agent is either unavailable, or not installed, which may prevent VMAccess from running."

@ChandraManral-1097 , Oh correct. The VM agent is in a not ready state so resetting password will not be possible at this point. Can you check and verify the below.
Are these VMs domain joined or standalone VMs?
Have you tried to login to the VM using Serial Console ?
Also, could you please share with me the serial log, by navigating to Boot diagnostics -> Serial log. You can share it as an attachment here.

Tried that but it boot diagnostics was not enabled and thus it did not work.
Its not a domain joined VM
