Remote Desktop issue with redirecting audio only

Hey there,

I have the following problem and Im curious if there is any easy solution for this:
I have a Windows Server 2016 RDS which several clients connect to. One of the RDP clients connects to another Windows 10 VM via RDP ( HyperV host and RDS on the same server).

Now I want sound, audio recording and webcam functionality on my Windows 10 VM. For my webcam (and audio recording) I use a USB to LAN device connected to the W10 VM and it works perfectly. When I redirect my sound however I lose my audio recording device provided by my webcam. It's not possible for me to redirect my webcam via RDP hence the USB-to-LAN method.

Is there any possibilty to only redirect audio via RDP and use the webcam (which is connected via USB-to-LAN device) for audio recording? It seems like whenever I activate audio redirections it deletes all my other input devices on my Windows 10 VM Client.

Thanks in advance

Hi @JanKTZ-4284

Thank you for asking this question on the Microsoft Q&A Platform.

Yes, you should edit the RPD setting file of the client, in the Device redirection section you'll find the required configuration.

Hope this helps,

Hm.. whenever I configure the remote audio settings to play from local / remote computer it deactivates my microphone audio input provided from my webcam. When I deactivate audio setting my webcam microphone input is available again.

The only way I can use my webcam microphone is by using these settings:

audiomode:i:1 -> Play sounds on the remote computer
audiocapturemode:i:0 -> Disable audio capture from the local device

-> Webcam microphone is usable as audio input but I don't have any sound available

If I set audiomode value to 0 then I have remoteaudio as my speaker device but no input device for audio recording and If I set it to 2 I don't have speaker and no audio input device.

I start to believe this is a bug. It doesn't make sense to me why every non-redirected audio input would be disabled in a RDS whenever I choose to redirect sound.
