Queries about Authenticated SMTP channel use in SCOM 2019.

Hello all,

Query 1:

We are currently using Annonymous SMTP channel in SCOM 2019. We are trying to implement Authenticated SMTP instead of this.
Is it a good idea to reuse the existing SMTP channels by adding the new SMTP server ( using the new Run As Account created for Authenticated SMTP functionality )?

Reason being, we can also leave the current e-mail subscriptions in place and if everything works successfully, then we can remove the old SMTP Server from the Channels SMTP server list (failover order).

Query 2:
While Run As account and Run As profiles are in use in SCOM 2019, can they be renamed? Will there be any impact to Subscriptions as these Run As account and profiles are being used in the SMTP channels for E-Mail subcriptions ?

Thanks in advance,
Sushanth

Hi @SushanthSK-5542,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft MECM Q&A forum.

==>Query 1:
Yes, you can add the new SMTP server to your SMTP channels and set it as primary failover order to have a test.

==>Query 2:
Per my experience, rename Run As account and Run As profiles will not be impact to Subscriptions.

Hope it helps. Thanks for your time.

Best regards,
Simon
