Higher Consumption in Windows 2019 compared with Windows 2012 R2

Hello,

I have windows 2012 R2 on the left image, and Windows 2019 on the right side. If I take a look, there are some differences in memory consumption, is it normal? All services are running the same scripts and we also have windows defender disabled on Windows 2019. Maybe I can get help from the experts here.

Many Thanks! 200541-win2019-vs-2012r2.png

Although I am not an expert, I think I have the ability to answer your questions
First of all, you should note that Windows Server 2019 has many more functions than Windows Server 2012r2, which means that these services will occupy more of your resources
Second, make sure your hardware drivers are up-to-date. Old drivers may not be able to give full play to the performance of your hardware
If you find that the resource consumption is still high after making adjustments, I suggest you abandon the GUI interface and adopt the pure command line mode, or consider upgrading your hardware

Hello @MuhamadFithryan-2313

Since both systems have quite different release date, almost 8 years of different, it is expected that the newer system has more powerfull subrutines and data processing which is expected to consume more system resources than previous older versions. For instance, in Windows 2019 there are many code security improvements that may increase the resource need.

As baseline, I would mention the minimum requirements, which are considerably higher in Windows 2019

Windows 2019 Requirements:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/hardware-requirements

Windows 2012 Requirements:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2012-r2-and-2012/dn303418(v=ws.11)

Hope this helps with your query,
