teams schedule in Outlook error

Hi,

Teams addin Outlook. (Office version is Office 365 business).
Mail box is our own domain.
When initate a meeting from teams, it give error, "user account in Outlook and Teams do not match". Is there any configuration to check on this issue?
Understood if add microsoft build-in outlook could fix this issue.

It had been working fine untill today I uncheck Team Meeting add-in and check again on option of Outlook configuration.

Hi @liuwei-cesm,

Does the issue occur when you try to create a Teams meeting from within the Outlook desktop client?
Any potentially relevant changes were made right before the issue started to appear?

As the error message indicates that you are using different accounts for Outlook and Teams client, it's suggested to double confirm you are signed in both applications with the same user account.

If the error persists, I'd recommend trying to sign out and quit Teams, then clear the Teams cache and sign in again using the correct user account. If it doesn't work either, please try creating a new Outlook profile using the same user account and check if it can help.

Same problem in our organisation, it also started happening since the last 2-3 days.

We are using different accounts for outlook and teams.
The same account is used to activated office/outlook as in teams, but it is a different mail domain/mailbox
This has not been a problem until now

We are getting the same fault as of the start of this week users trying to use the teams Plugin for Outlook to create meetings to set up meetings get the error 'The user account in Outlook and Teams do not match. Please make sure you are signed in to both application with the same user name and privileges'.

Our users Teams and Exchange accounts are separate but until this week the plugin has always worked previously. This very much feels like something has been changed in the latest teams update. They also have Skype For Business installed on there devices given the error is very similar to an older issue it could be related.

Teams updated to 1.4.00.22976 on 11/05/22

it does not seem to be pc related. tested with mutlple people and multiple computers, the same people have the problem on multiple machines (while for others there is no problem)

Also experiencing this issue with multiple users. I have logged a call with Microsoft, I can replicate it on my machine which is running v1.5.00.11163 of Teams. I have a test machine with an older version and can schedule Teams meetings fine via the plug in as soon as I update the Teams client the problem starts. Looks very likely something in the latest releases is breaking this functionality.

Status is:

  • at certain PCs with Outlook it still work (on prem account and Teams invitation) with Teams 1.5.00.11163 and Outlook 365 Build 16.0.15128.20210) 64 Bit

  • other PCs come up with the message of not matching user accounts

Seems to be more or less on purpose as an accident, but only workarounds are so far:

  • copy an older existing Teams appointment (but could mess up data in the previous or new meeting generated)

  • include a corresponding o365 Exchange account from the same tenant, Teams is using and create invitations in that calendar and invite yourself (on prem) to that. Not the nicest solution but at least it works.

I don't see that this can be fixed on the tenant, but is client related.

This might also be solution:

Hello,

We have Azure AD completely separated from our on-premise AD / Exchange servers (not even an hybrid-setup, nothing is synchronized).

We manually create users in Azure AD with @contoso.onmicrosoft.fr. These accounts are only used for MS Teams.
On-premise, users have a @contoso.com email address.

Up until recently, we had no issue with creating meeting from Outlook in Teams.

Now, some users are facing with "The user account in Outlook and Teams do not match. Please make sure you are signed in to both application with the same user name and privileges"

The issue is seen only by a handful of people right now, but I fear more and more users will be impacted.

Thank you.

--- Edit 1:
Users affected are on Outlook 2016 or Outlook 2019, with Teams 1.5.00.11163 (64 bits)

A user not affected is using Teams 1.5.00.9163 (64 bits)

---- Edit 2:
Found a workaround : it works if I go to the Azure AD user profile, and change the User Principal Name (UPN) from xxx@contoso.onmicrosoft.fr to xxx@contoso.fr
Note that contoso.fr need to be added as a custom domain first.
User need to disconnect and reconnect.

But this is not something we want, we like having two clearly separated accounts (@consoto.com on-premise, @contoso.onmicrosoft.fr for Teams) as it helps differentiate accounts/password for our users.

Those affected, do you have automatic updates disabled in office?

I have this theory that if Teams version auto-updates to the latest, while Office remains on some old version, such as 2008, there may be some compatibility issues between the two. If so try updating office to something newer such as 2202.

This may also explain why some users are affected while others are not. Teams may not have yet updated for everyone.

Already tried several combination.

Fun fact: identical software combinations can work for one user, but not for another.
So will be interesting if we will get a solution there or if MS messed it up.

I confirm @MatthiasUtrata-0813 says, We also have tried it. It works for my account in a computer, but not for the other users in the same computer. We also have checked that we have the same software versions in the computers.
In our case I detected that my users have different name before the domain. We only have two users with this issue and I think that maybe will be for this.
pex mari@contoso.fr and mari*a*@contoso.onmicrofsoft.fr
For all those users that have the same username before the domain it still working.
What about your users?

In our case, there is a perfect match between prefix@contoso.fr and prefix@contoso.onmicrosoft.fr

But it works if I go to the Azure AD user profile, and change the User Principal Name (UPN) from xxx@contoso.onmicrosoft.fr to xxx@contoso.fr (but contoso.fr need to be added a custom domain first).

However, this is not something we want to do, as we like having two clearly separate account name.

Yeah, looks like you're right, seems to be affecting users, not computers or software versions.

Unfortunately, I don't think the username matters. I have two aliases, User@contoso.com and User_Adm@contoso.onmicrosoft.com and it works for me. I have another user with just User1@contoso.com and it does not work for them.
