SCCM 2111 - Ou based collection not deleting old records

Dear Experts,

I'm having issue with our OU based collection where I moved some PC out of collection, move in some new PC, the new PCs are updated in SCCM console. However, the old removed PCs are still there on the list. Please help to advise why this happened and how we can overcome it?

These problematic PCs, some were moved to another OU, some were not used anymore so they were deleted from AD directly.

May we know how do you moved some PC out of collection and move in some new PC? Do you mean remove some PC in the OU and move in some new PC?

You may need to enable the AD Group Discovery.

Hi @AllenLiu-MSFT,

We moved the computers in or out from AD console, not within SCCM console. I moved some from OU1 (which was not configured query in SCCM) to OU2 (which has query in SCCM), the computers got updated in OU2 of SCCM collection. But if I moved out another computer out of OU2, moved it out of OU2 from AD console. it will always show existing there in OU2 of SCCM.

Not sure if I clarified it clearly. Thanks.

P.S. the AD group discovery has been always enabled.

Thanks for the explanation, now it's very clear to me.
Have we configured the AD group discovery with the type:location and contains all OU?

Ou data come from two places, ad discovery while the computer does not have the cm client installed and heartbeat discovery after that. Until the client see that it belongs to the ou, and run heartbeat discovery and collection is updated. They will show in the old ou.

Hi @Garth,

Thanks for your advice.

However, those old PCs, they are no longer existing machines, they were physically decommissioned so those records in AD are 100% obsolete.
So there is no chance they can still get CCM client installed. will these records staying at SCCM console all the time?

Delete the clients out of cm, wait an hour then force the ad discovery again. Remember that cm will not remove pcs from cm, just because the pcs was removed from ad. It needs to be come stale first and then it will take 90 days from that point, before it gets removed.
