Repair failed when attempting to add plugins(WHO SHOULD I TAG)

I tried to install WSL2 on my computer but got the error 14098. I also attempted several updates, some of them returning 0x800f0905.

I use a dell, Windows 11 Home version.

I searched for help but among these tries, none worked:
1) DISM RestoreHealth tells me that it couldn't find the source(0x800f081f).
2) Then I got the Media Creation Tool W11, updated the system, and all previous updates have been fixed. However WSL2 still doesn't load, nor do later updates.
3) I tried mounting: md c:\test\offline and using it as a source(also using install.esd and install.esd), but DISM simply ignores me.
4) chkdsk, which runs after a restart, finishes scanning and tells nothing.
5) sfc/scannow won't do a thing!

Please help. Thanks in advance!

Also, I know that several windows addons are needed to use WSL2. I just receive new errors for trying -- I think it was 0x80073712.

I have replied to hundreds of posts.... which one are you referring to?

I would suggest that you start with running my "IsWindowsHealthy" bat file. That should tell you if Windows detects any fundamental problems.

I received rc=0 for everything and got to the end. SFC/SCANNOW says that it found the corrupted files but some couldn't be fixed. Powershell.exe says:

This sequence worked on my Win10 test VM. I should note that my VM was not "broken".

Mount the Windows iso that matches your OS version. Use the drive letter (I have F:) and desired folder name in the following commands.

Find index of Win version

 dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:F:\sources\install.esd

Export the wim file using the correct index. (6 was win10 pro for me)

 dism /export-image /SourceImageFile:F:\sources\install.esd /SourceIndex:6 /DestinationImageFile:c:\temp\install.wim /Compress:max /CheckIntegrity

Double check that the wim matches your OS.

 dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:c:\temp\install.wim

Run the repair.

 Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /restoreHealth /source:c:\temp\install.wim

A reboot would likely be the next step followed by another run of IsWindowsHealty.bat.

If that doesn't fix your OS then you will probably need to reinstall the OS.

This site suggests that you can do an inplace upgrade. I have no idea if that will work or not. I didn't try it.

I DID reinstall my OS previously... but no, nothing would fix this.

Also, I happen to have tried the same solution you provided, only I installed install.wim in my root folder.

Is it because my Win11 version is 21H2 and that maybe doesn't match the install.wim? Now I'm trying to install a .iso file directly to see if that works...

I am rlly so disappointed with Windows 11... this dude says he's got more errors in Win11 than all the errors combined, starting from Windows 3.1 :P

I don't think I can revert back to Windows 10 without risking deleting everything since I don't have any free thumbs... I'll just pray that Windows will fix it in a few months...

If nothing works, I'll wait until I am free, buy a new thumb, an reinstall Windows 10 through Media Creation Tool. (I mean, I do love the overview of this, but man, a system that crashes like this? I have a computer that's a whole decade old and even that has never received as much errors as this brand new computer I got with a Win11... not to mention that I once soaked it in water, had to revert to a backup and lost all office apps...)

Earlier this year I purchased new Win11 laptops for both me and my wife. They are running just fine for both of us. I'm sorry about your water accident, but I don't see that as being a Windows problem. I thought that hardware vendors normally provide a "re-install my pc" option that would use a recovery partition on the disk to reimage the pc. You would need to contact your hardware vendor for support on that.

If you've already reinstalled the OS, then it's going to be hard for forum users to understand what state your OS is in and to know what got installed and when.

Do you know someone who supports pc's as a profession? Ie; has experience troubleshooting pc problems? I'm thinking back to my neighbor asking me for help with his pc where I hang up the phone and walk down to his house because its infinitely easier to sit in front of a pc with full access to logs, etc, and I can try to get it to function. Having him try to describe the problem as you are trying to do now is really tough because there is too much that we don't know about what was done on this particular OS instance.

I have checked both DISM and CBS logs but they just tell me that either some regedit file is corrupted or there are CSI manifest corruptions or the source files, which I had specified, couldn't be found...

Like, I got 16000+ lines of log already for these two weeks...

Thankfully I have an absurd memory; I can tell you that, starting from the beginning of this month, I have tried updating and installing features. Then I tried DISM many times. After that I ran chkdsk and sfc/scannow (repeatedly). Next, I got Media Creation Tool. Reinstalled Win11. Then tried mounting and using source options. Later on I heard about deleting regedit corruptions. I tried that but nothing happened, so I merged them back. I then explored safe mode, but still it didn't work.

As of what may have been the cause of this I do not know; many have encountered this problem, so I am guessing that it's the fault of the system and not mine. Besides, I only used this computer for less than 4 months, as it was purchased in February.
