Can I upgrade a "Window 7" OS to a "Windows 10 - ioT Enterprise LTSB 2016" OS on a machine that has a Intel CORE I3-3217UE processor?

Looking to perform a Windows update from Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit, to Window 10 - ioT LTSB 2016 on a Siemens HMI controller. The system specs look good except for the processor which is an Intel CORE I3-3217UE. Does anyone know if this can be performed or do I need to upgrade the controller?

Hello @MFTFMC-2272,

why do you choose Win 10 LTSB 2016?

The 2019 version supports Azure IoT Edge (due to the availability of virtualization/container support).

Recently a 2021 version is made available too. On top of that, a Windows 11 IoT Enterprise version is available too.

Check out the documentation.

Regarding the hardware requirements, it seems you are safe. Double-check the documentation about hardware and Socs.

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 is the latest version. LTSB 2016 is very old, and I wouldn't use it.

According to the Intel site, Windows 10 64-bit will run on that processor: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000006105/processors.html. The Windows Processor Requirement page may contradict Intel's recommendations.

The OS should run, but the performance might be slow. Just be sure to have 4GB of RAM in the system for Windows 10 64-bit. Also, contact Siemens to see what they recommend.
