Server Essentials 2016 Anywhere Access Devices Gadget Error

After running fine for over a year users are now seeing a message when they log in to Anywhere Access. The gadget that normally displays icons for the workstations the users can access remotely now shows error "There was a problem loading a gadget. Contact the person who manages your server."

I've searched around for a solution, but have come up empty.

Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Hi,

Does this issue happen to specific user/group or all the users?

You may try Repair wizard in Anywhere Access to find the cause.

And please go to RAPs, check the available network resources.

This problem affects all users and groups.

After digging deeper into this issue I found the following in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Logs\WebApps\RemoteAccess.log

Hi Joe @ JoePeifer-0013,

1.Have you check the setup/configuration of Anyway Access?

Manage Anywhere Access in Windows Server Essentials

Troubleshoot Anywhere Access in Windows Server Essentials

2.Are you running the latest version of windows essential with updates applied?

3.You might want to try restoring the server back to the state it was in before the latest updates or issue occurred.

Restore your Windows Server Essentials 2016

4..Alternatively we can run process monitor first then reproduce our issue, finally we can check which ADtesthook related registry cannot access/open.

If you can find it, can you right click the registry and check what's permission for it now?

My apologies @KarlieWeng-MSFT for not following up sooner.

It appears that the ship has righted itself. My users now report (and I've confirmed) that they are able to use Remote Access as normal.

When I log in to RA as admin I still see the message I posted above. It seems that I should be seeing a full list of workstations and servers that are joined to the domain. Is that normal? Is there a way for me to associate the admin account with one or more workstations/servers in the network so that they appear on the RA console?
