After installing the June 14th update (June 14, 2022—KB5014699) on multiple computers they got stuck in an endless lopp after "Protected by HP Sure Start". Affected computers are using Windows 10 21H2.

After entering the BIOS and resetting the settings to factory defaults and then uninstalling the patch the problem was solved. We then proceeded with installation of the "July 12, 2022—KB5015807" patch and everything now works fine again.

    Hello,

    Greeting for the day!

There may be something crashed while updating and can be verified by running the Diagnostics routine.

    To run the Diagnostics routine,

    1. Start tapping the Esc key BEFORE starting the PC and then press the start button.
    2. Keep tapping the Esc key until a popup menu shows.
    3. Then select Diagnostics from that popup menu, F2.
    4. Verify the results. If that shows the hard drive and the other hardware to pass, then something else is interfering with the boot up.

Also once if you are able to skip the issue, try this link to make sure all updates are received.

Well after attempting a lot of fixes i found online, which didn't necessarily happen to work for me, i decided to find my own way without minding the risk and here's how i kinda found a way to boot on bios even when the elitebook 840 g4 wouldn't boot on it. 1- shut down the laptop and removed the charger; 2 - removed the hard disk as i presumed the problem was from the hard disk accordingly with people who came to fix it by changong the hard disk. ; 3 - boot the laptop woth no hard disk then pressed F2 to go to system diagnostics ; 4- attached the hard disk to it's place while the pc is on ; 5 - when you quit the diagnostics you automatically go to startup menu so the key is to go to BIOS setup ; -6- after being on bios setup you go to the boot options and disable fast boot ( this would give you the possibility to regain control over accessing the whole other setups cause on fast boot mode, the boot is just too fast to gasp how it shall run the modes you want'em to cause it automatically boots with another defined command that would prevent it from doing what you want)
