Edge Chromium - Location of Enterprise Mode Site List version

Hi,

I've been searching the internet & the registry to find where the CurrentVersion-value for the Site list is stored with Edge Chromium - but I'm unable to find it.
With Internet Explorer it's stored in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode: CurrentVersion
With "old Edge" it's stored in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MicrosoftEdge\Main\EnterpriseMode: CurrentVersion

The "old Edge"-value and the value in edge://compat/enterprise does not match.
The Internet Explorer-value matches the Edge Chromium value, however, would the newly created Edge Chromium use the old IE registry?

Anyone knows the answer?

Thanks in advance.

It looks like the new Edge Chromium browser and the IE 11 browser uses the same site list file.

You can refer to the steps below to know the site list file path for Edge chromium browser using group policy.

  1. Launch the Local Group policy editor.

  2. Go through this path Computer configuration->Administrative templates->Microsoft Edge.

  3. Find the policy with the title Configure the Enterprise mode site list and double click on it.

  4. If the site list is set then you can see the file path or address value here.

You can refer to the steps below to know the site list file path for the IE browser using registry key.
1. Launch the Registry editor.
2. Browse through this path Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode.
3. Find the registry entry with the name SiteList.
4. Double click on the entry to open it in a edit mode. Here you can see the file path or address value.

You can notice that both entries shows the same file address. that means both browsers using the same site list.

You can try to access the site list file and try to open it using the notepad and check its version.

After that browse through this path in the registry editor HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode and double click on CurrentVersion value. You can notice that the version mentioned here and version mentioned in the file both are same.

So I hope above steps could be helpful to you know the current version of the site list used by the Edge Chromium browser.

Let me know if I misunderstand anything from your above description. I will try to correct myself and try to provide you the further suggestions.

Thanks for your understanding.

Hi @Deepak-8793

I'm sorry but I'm having a hard time believing that it's actually using the CurrentVersion value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode.

I tried this:
1. Update the CurrentVersion value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode to a lower value
2. Checking edge://compat/enterprise for the version - it haven't changed
3. Update the CurrentVersion value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode to a higher value than current
4. Checking edge://compat/enterprise for the version - it haven't changed
5. Trying to force an update on edge://compat/enterprise
6. Checking edge://compat/enterprise for the version - it haven't changed to the higher value
7. Setting CurrentVersion value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode to the correct version of the Sitelist
8. Updated the SiteList using the "Enterprise Mode Site List Manager for v.2 schema" - making it one version higher
9. Forcing an update on edge://compat/enterprise, the new version shows in edge://compat/enterprise
10. Checking the CurrentVersion value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode - it haven't changed to the new value

My conclusion from above is that it doesn't share the same registry value at Internet Explorer.

anonymous userPoleniusAndersson-5476,
You can try to refer to the steps below.
1. Delete the CurrentVersion key from this path Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode.
2. Modify the version to +1 in the sitelist.xml file.
3. Launch the IE and wait for about 65 seconds.
4. Refresh the Registry editor and check for the updated CurrentVersion key.
5. Go to the edge://compat/enterprise in the Edge browser and click on Force update button.

You can notice that version number will get update in the registry as well as in the Edge browser.

On my Edge, edit://compat/enterprise shows a Location that is not found in the Registry. It is also not in either the IE or Edge local policy settings for the SiteList.
