windows server 2019 remote debugging issue with Asp.Net MVC 5.

Hi,

I need to remote debug the my Asp.Net MVC 5 application which is deployed on the Windows Server 2019.

My server is a bit more secured and can't directly access through IP or Computer Name on the Internet.

If I want to do RDP then there is a gateway address is something like this

Gateway server : testuni-system.com
Remote Computer : TRC-FFE-FERTH-Y

I have installed Remote bugging tools for Visual studio 2022 on the Windows Server 2019.

What I need to do is to debug my application bug remotely?

In my local , everything is fine. I got the db from the server and then tried. Still everything is working fine in my local machine.

Now there is the only way to check it which is remote debugging.

Please guide me.

thank you.

I have tried to attach to process but my processed don't show w3wp.

You have to understand that this community cannot see how your network is setup. With that being said, the official remote debugging documentation clearly illustrates how to remote debug an ASP.NET application. If you are unable to administer the required steps in the documentation then you'll need to find another way to debug your application. For example, logging.

Remote debugging does not support proxy configurations. You should RDP to server that

1) has direct access to the server to be debugged (debugging ports need to be open)
2) has the client debugging tools installed. (You may also want the source files)

Hi @mehmoodtekfirst-9443,

If you don't see any processes, try using the IP address instead of the remote computer name (the port is required). You can use ipconfig in a command line to get the IPv4 address.

Check Show processes from all users. If you have multiple processes showing w3wp.exe, check the User Name column. In some scenarios, the User Name column shows your app pool name, such as IIS APPPOOL\DefaultAppPool. If you see the App Pool, an easy way to identify the correct process is to create a new named App Pool for the app instance you want to debug, and then you can find it easily in the User Name column.

For how to remote debug ASP.NET on a remote IIS computer, you can refer to this official documentation. You can see the specific steps to attach to the ASP.NET application from a Visual Studio computer.

Hi there,

While it's possible to debug without running the remote debugger as an administrator, there are several requirements to make this work correctly and they often require more advanced service configuration steps.
