Wvd deployment with doamin contrloller running inside the azure vm

Hi Team,

i want to deploy a WVD but i dont have a onprem domain running or i dont want to use azure ad ds.

i want to deploy a VM(windows server) in azure and want to make that VM as my domain controller and want to add my WVD to that domain.

so here my questions are:

  1. want to know if my requirement possible
2.If possible what are the steps i need to follow
3.how my user accounts are going to sync(main concern is this)

  2. And my domain controller is my DNS server so do i need to update the Dns settings for MY vnet(for deploying WVD in the same vnet) with my Domain/Dns server IP. if yes How can i do that.

Note: I know the process for deploying WVD with Azure ADDS and on prem domain controller as well. i;'m not sure on process for using azure vm as domain controller especially with user accounts to use.

1, yes, it is possible, and 2, you can just create a domain controller in a VM in the subscription, just make sure it is on the network that WVD can access. 3, you would have to use azure ad sync. If you really don't want to use azure ad ds, it is quite a bit of effort.

  1. Yes, you can do this through the azure portal, select your virtual network, DNS servers will be under the settings heading, change form Azure default to custom and put in the IP address(es) from the domain controller you built above.

iSo i need to install the ad sync in domain controller vm and sync my user accounts to Azure ad, Right?

can i use my domain user account directly with out syncing the account to azure AD, or is it mandatory to sync user accounts to azure AD. Like the user accounts we use in standard domain controller for adding machines to domain. or is it mandatory to use azure ad synced accounts to add the WVD to domain controller running inside the vm.
sorry for late reply was stuck with other works.

Thanks.

How can i make sync my user accounts to azure ad? is there any specific procedure for that since the Azure AD doesn't generate or store password hashes in the format that's required for NTLM or Kerberos authentication.
FYi-I Know the process for cloud only users, but i need it for user account syncing form domain controller through azure ad connect.
