Yellow border on all monitors

Sometimes after I use Snip&Sketch the yellow border stays long after the program has been closed.
Is there a way to fix this or disable the border all together?

Probably related to this annoying feature : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/11644/how-can-i-remove-yellow-border-line-when-screen-ca.html
Why do I need this feature in the first place? It does not show up when using obs or sharing screen in zoom or discord yet in Microsoft's own app it shows up and stays on top.

Hi,

Please check if below steps to turn off the snip outline could resolve your issue.

  1. Open the Snip&Sketch

  2. Click "..." on the upper right corner, select "Settings"

  3. Turn off "Snip outline"

No, my problem is not related to snip outline. It is turned off on my PC.
You can see the yellow border on the photo attached as it does not appear on actual screenscons.

I'm having a similar issue. Mine only comes on when I use the keyboard shortcut for the snipping tool (Shift+Windows+S). Sometimes the application looks like it doesn't load properly and the yellow borders appear but do not go away. I have been searching for a resolution to this but I have no seen anything as of yet.

Look for a process called Screen Snipping. It has a blue icon with an X in a box. End that task. Sometimes, I have to CTRL+SHIFT+ESC (open task manager) and then ALT+TAB into task manager, arrow up and down, and ALT+E to end it.

Not sure what happened with the last Windows update, but the WINDOWS+SHIFT+S shortcut hasn't worked since.

Hi,

May I know when the issue begins?

Have you made any changes on your PC before the issue occurred, such as upgraded the Windows system or installed any KB, third party application?

Thanks,
Eleven

Double check to make sure that in Ease of Access - Narrator is off.

Otherwise, do you know the steps that produced the yellow boarder?

Narrator is off, and isn't it blue border when using narrator?

Sometimes when I press PrintScreen to launch Snip&Sketch it doesn't launch and the yellow border shows up. Pressing PrintScreen again launches Snip&Sketch as expected but the yellow border doesn't disappear after exiting it. Sometimes it disappears in 20 seconds but sometimes it stays for several minutes.

To reproduce I just mash PrintScreen and Esc, but usually it appears after launching Snip&Sketch for the first time in a while.

The Narrator suggestion came from someone in an old post who had a similar problem.

If you are launching snip & sketch via PrintSCreen, could it be behind some application? If you alt+tab to see if it was launched behind something?

I have exact the same issue.

the following fixed it for me:

go to Snipping Tool's settings. The bottom window in the image below should open. Then un-check the "show screen overlay when snipping tool is active". I think that should do the trick!

Not an answer but a comment. My Snip & Sketch went to 'yellow border' mode after a Windows update about a year ago. Tried all the resolutions I could find to no avail. A recent lightning strike forced me to buy new tech: a Surface directly from Microsoft with Win10 Home pre-installed. A setback but at least, I thought, Snip & Sketch will work; not so much ... still yellow border out-of-the-box (though I did apply updates first thing ... my bad?). So there is something deep or subtly wrong with this app or its deployment. Please do not remove the Snipping Tool.
