Since two or three days ago, the microphone stopped working for me. I have the Linux client with version 1.3.00.16851 (64 bits). The mic device is detected correctly, but captures no audio. The web UI (teams.microsoft.com) works fine, with microphone access via the browser.

    Hi @Hattendorf, Anton ,

Does anyone else have the same issue in your organization?

Can microphone device working in other applications?

Some customers solved this issue by closing the device configuration on a call. You can try to see if it works for you.

Besides, you can try to clean your Teams client cache by running the following command and restart it again.

    rm -r ~/.config/Microsoft/Microsoft\ Teams\ -\ Insiders

I've the same problem with Teams Version 1.3.00.30857 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS.

In my case, something must have happened between the 14th. Jan. and the 19th. Jan. 2021. Before that, Teams on my Ubuntu worked correctly. Since then, no microphone too... But no problem on Windows 10 :-(

Is there going to be a fix for this?

I'm on UbuntuMATE 21.04 running Teams 1.4.00.13653 and I'm still getting issues with the microphone.

It usually works at the beginning of the call, but then it appears to randomly cut out, without warning, at some point in the call.

Opening my sound settings I can see a signal still going in on the microphone (as evidenced by the digital VU meter), but no signal is visible on the VU meter in Teams. Plugging and unplugging the equipment sometimes works (especially if USB), but often doesn't.

    Thanks,
    Duncan.

I tried cleaning my client cache, as suggested, to no avail. I'm still suffering the same problem.

Unfortunately, my colleagues use Windows 10, so I'm the only one with Linux.

    The key points are:

    • The webapp works correctly (teams.microsoft.com) with the Google Chrome browser, and so do the rest of apps in my laptop, so we can rule out a microphone or driver problem. The mic is working fine.
    • The Microsoft Teams linux desktop client with version 1.3.00.16851 (64 bits) is not able to record sound from the microphone, even though the mic does work.
    • This problem is reproducible in multiple networks (office, home, WiFi, wired...), so no connectivity problem either
    • The desktop app was working fine a week or two ago (I don't remember the exact date)

Did Microsoft make any recent change on the cloud backend? Did you issue any recent update to the Linux Desktop client? (I searched for "teams" in my dpkg history log which reach up to last april and couldn't find anything).

P.S.: I'm writing this as an answer because the comment feature is not working: hitting submit does nothing (tested on multiple browsers).

I was having similar issues. When I spoke, I could hear myself in the headset but colleagues couldn't hear me. I was in a closed loop of sorts.

I normally have Zoom running for other meetings and it appears that even when a Zoom session isn't running, Zoom is holding onto the mic. As such, after terminating both Teams and Zoom then launching Teams, I was able to make a Test call successfully. Haven't been in a Teams conference yet but I'm hoping that ensuring nothing else is using the mic before launching Teams might be the trick.
