  2. In the top right corner, please click on “Sign in”
  3. Click on “Create an Account.”

Note: Some DreamSpark Partners, such as Windows Marketplace and App Hub, require students use a Windows Live ID. If you plan to build Windows Phone applications and want to sell them on the App Hub, we recommend you create your account with a Windows Live ID.

You are a student, that needs verificiation in both New DreamSpark and AppHub ? How to get started ?

To sign up in DreamSpark, students do not need to use their Windows Live ID – though for registration in the Marketplace & AppHub registration with Windows Live ID is still needed. To use smoothly AppHub and new DreamSpark, we recommend you use following step by step approach

  1. Open a browser and navigate to
  2. Select “Join Now” on the right side of the page.
  3. Sign in with your Windows Live ID, or if you do not have one yet, please follow the steps to create one.
  4. Select your Country from the drop down list, select “Student” as your account type, and review the Terms and Conditions. Click “Next” after agreeing to the Terms and Conditions.
  5. You will be asked to verify your student status. Click the link that says “Continue to DreamSpark to verify your student status.”
  6. You will be redirected to the DreamSpark website. Follow the steps to verify your student status.
  7. Upon successfully verifying your student status you will be redirected back to the App Hub registration process.
  8. Complete the registration form and begin uploading applications!

Basically now, AppHub will redirect students back to the new DreamSpark site to verify their status.

Best practice for new student that sign up on DreamSpark for the first time, and that want to build Windows Phone applications : useyour Windows Live ID since this is required by AppHub.

Special remark: the AppHub requires that a person be 18 years of age to sign up with an account. If the students are under age, they can get their parents to create their own account, and submit the app on the student behalf.

You will find soon a button to the Windows Phone page on DreamSpark to allow users to map the Windows Live ID with their DreamSpark account.

My school is registered in  Live@Edu schools but not listed in list of institutions.

When  are currently working on the issue and should be solved soon.

How to find out whether your school has a DreamSpark Premium account or not?

Typically, the school will sign up for a particular model via the institution tab. Upon assigning to a specific school (and indicated behind institution name) you will automatically be guided to your school’s registration.

My School is registered multiple times : which one to select?

We are currently working on deduplication of accounts. Within couple of weeks, the list will only include the unique names, but until then, you select the one that fits the best. More important though is that when you have the choice between a school & a school with premium registration, is that you select the one with “DreamSpark Premium”, as this will give you access to many more software bundles and learnings.

There are only 2 models explained : DreamSpark and DreamSpark Premium at particular fee. Before we used to have software free of charge: is this no longer supported?

In previous release you could start free of charge download of software. Within the current system there are only 2 subscription based models explained (DreamSpark and DreamSpark premium). Let there be no doubt, there are still 3 options :

  1. use free of charge : you can still download free of charge all software you used to download in previous system – no subscription is needed
  2. Subscription model 1  - DreamSpark : provides in addition to the ‘free usage of DreamSpark"’ also the possibility to
    • download software and distribute electronically towards your students
    • install software in your computer labs (for educational purposes)
    • use 2 times support
  3. Subscription model 2 : DreamSpark Premium : offers you more development software and is hence tailored to ICT students -  in addtion you can
    • download software and distribute electronically towards your students
    • install software in your computer labs (for educational purposes)
    • use 4 times support
