Windows Store and Updates

I learned today that the Amazon Kindle application is available in the Windows Store thanks to a retweet of @jsenior from @Carnage4Life. When I tried to install the application on my Samsung Series 7 Slate, I received repeated errors that the application was not available now. Trying other applications, I discovered that none of them would install.

On a hunch, I checked Windows Updates and saw seven pending OS updates for “Windows 8”. After installing the updates and rebooting the device, I could install applications from the Store and was notified of two updates for previously installed applications (Maps and FlipSaw).

Bottom line is that you always want to make sure your systems have all of the latest updates applied.
