Visual Studio Web Standards Update

Putting aside the debate on whether or not developers should use Silverlight or HTML5 with regards to Windows “8” (BUILD will be here soon enough), if you’re currently using Visual Studio and are trying to implement some HTML5 features then you’ve probably noticed that there a few area’s that could use some updating. The VS Web Standards Update adds better support for HTML5, CSS3 and new JavaScript features to all versions of Visual Studio.

Scott Hanselman has a great blog entry which illustrates exactly what this update is all about and how it adds even more functionality to an already brimming version of Visual Studio. As Scott mentions, “The goal is perhaps an update every quarter or so as new features or elements emerge” which would be perfect considering that many parts of the HTML5 specification have yet to be fully recommended.

As with all new technologies, stay tuned…
