Oil and water...chlorine and ammonia...Scrum and big companies?

Well, my dear readers, I now have a dangerous idea in my head.  One of the projects I'm responsible for is a very important but someone obscure effort involving a relatively small number of people.  This project has been plagued with many common misfortunes of software projects: delayed delivery, impatient management, and massive complexity.

I'm thinking this project might be a good pilot project for using Scrum.  It will, of course, be a challenge to adapt Scrum to Microsoft's more linear-plan-based management culture, but agile methods are starting to take off internally so I figure it's worth a shot.

I'm off to become a certified ScrumMaster early next week.  Hopefully I'll then be equipped to employ Scrum soon on this internal project.  I will endeavor to keep you all posted on how this goes.
