Visual Studio Code Name "Orcas" Beta 1 Team Suite is available for download

Microsoft VP (Soma) Somasegar announced today on his blog the availability of Visual Studio Code Name "Orcas" Beta 1 Team Suite. This is the first official beta that is put out in public. Some CTP releases have been made available in the past. The .iso images should be available soon. But for now the Virtual PC version can be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center. The good news is that this VPC is also based on the same base image.

Visual Studio Code Name “Orcas” delivers on Microsoft’s vision of smart client applications by enabling developers to rapidly create connected applications that deliver the highest quality rich user experiences. This new version enables any size organization to rapidly create more secure, manageable, and more reliable applications that take advantage of Windows Vista, 2007 Office System and the Web. By building these new types of applications, organizations will find it easier than ever before to capture and analyze information so that they can make effective business decisions.

This beta release is available in English and Japanese only.

  • Create Microsoft Office applications 

Get your download started! The release of beta 1 comes just in time for my presentation on the topic next week at the Innovation Day! So you can expect a couple of posts on these exciting new features of the .NET Framework 3.5 in the next couple of days.
