Communitize – Doing business with ourselves!

I've been asked to do a keynote at Victoria University's 8th International We-B Conference, in Melbourne, Australia, from the 28th to the 30th of November.

The theme of the conference is:

"E-Business: the Past, Present and Challenges for the Future"

When I read this, the first thing that popped into my head was just how rapidly the parties to e-Business have changed, from being very business to consumer focused, to now being business to community focused. So the abstract for my keynote is:

Communitize – Doing business with ourselves!

Over the past few years, the flow of momentum for online business has changed from business to consumer, to business to community. Players such as eBay, Facebook, and Amazon have changed the game forever by providing platforms that lower the barriers to market entry for small players, while providing massive online customer bases at zero cost. The next generation of online weblords are building a new digital landscape, where community is key, and developers are everything.

For those interested in coming along and joining in on the festivities, you can register for the conference via the event site:

And if you have any thoughts on the topic, I'd love to hear them :)
