New March 2012 Feature Updates for Windows Embedded Standard 7 Are Now on ECE

Feature updates for Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 are now available on ECE.  This update contains the following applications and out-of-band application templates:

  • Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 Service Pack 1 Client for Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 
    • Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 Service Pack 1 for Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 is a Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 compatible application template and documentation, for use with the Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 Service Pack 1 client. The compatible application template allows creation of a Windows Embedded Standard SP1 7 image that is compatible with the Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 Service Pack 1 client installation. Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 enables enterprises to deploy, assess and update Windows Embedded devices by extending the capabilities of System Center Configuration Manager 2007.
    • The prerequisites for Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 SP1 installation on the runtime are:
      • System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Client
      • System Center Configuration Manager Server 2007 R2/R3/SP2 Embedded Multi-Language Client Hotfix KB2516850.

 

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express for Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express for Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 is a Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 compatible application template and documentation, for use with the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express database engine only. The compatible application template allows creation of a Windows Embedded Standard SP1 7 image that is compatible with the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express database engine. Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express is free data management system that delivers a rich set of       features, data protection, and performance for embedded applications, lightweight Web Sites, applications, and local data stores.
    • The prerequisite for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express installation on the runtime requires one of the following to be installed
      • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 
      • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0

The new features are rolled into the Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 March 2012 Feature Update.
