HD-DVD / DVD Hybrid media

I just read this short bit on Gizmodo about HD DVD / DVD hybrid media.  This is really interesting to me because it means that not only are HD DVD drives backwards compatible to regular DVDs but manufacturers are now given forward compatability to the HD DVD format!  Too bad they're soo expensive right now. I suppose I'll have to use netflix for those HD DVDs when the Xbox 360 HD DVD player (most up to date mention I could find) comes out...
