Security Code Camp Tomorrow!
For my readers who are planning to attend tomorrow's Security Code Camp, I wanted to post a quick note to fill you in on the proceedings, make sure you have directions, and let you know what to expect.
Directions to the Reston Microsoft Technology Center may be found at:
Building Access and Parking
Because this is an off-hours event, and our building is shared space, the outside doors may be secured, depending on when you arrive. There is ample parking in the garage...if the door from the garage is locked, please come around to the front entrance. We will have someone available to let you in there. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
Doors will open at approximately 8:30am. If you get to the Reston facility before 8:30am, you will not be able to get in. That's the bad news. The good news is that this will give you time to get coffee, danish, or whatever you please, because we will not be providing breakfast at the event. There is a Starbucks over at Reston Town Center, which is just a short walk from the Microsoft Technology Center (http://www.restontowncenter.com/map.html ... on this map, the Microsoft office would be approximately where the store listings are).
The schedule for the day can be found here: http://www.madcodecamp.com/static/scc102005.htm
We'll be starting the morning at 9:00am in with an introduction that will last around 30 minutes. The first breakout sessions will start promptly at 9:45am.
We will have 15 minute breaks between each session, with the exception of the lunch break, which will be one hour. During the lunch break we'll have our costume contest (more on that in a moment). Pizza (pepperoni, vegetarian, and cheese will be available) and sodas will be provided for lunch. If you'd prefer something else, there are plenty of dining options at the Reston Town Center (http://www.restontowncenter.com/map.html).
We'll close out the day with a closing session from approximately 5:45pm-6:15pm, where we'll do some drawings for books and other prizes, based on eval forms that have been turned in (so make sure you get in those evals!), and give you an opportunity to ask questions of the speakers.
During the lunch break, once everyone's had a chance to grab some pizza, we'll be holding a costume contest, with the best costume to be judged by our track chairs. We'll do a costume parade, followed by the judging. The top prize is a gift certificate for your choice of an XBOX 360 Core System (to be fulfilled when they are available), or a Portable Media Center device. We'll have a couple of prizes for runners-up as well.
Slides, code, and other related materials provided to me by the speakers will be posted to the Mid-Atlantic Code Camp downloads page by the end of the weekend (sooner if I have time).
I'm glad so many folks have decided to spend the day with us tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to a great event! See you there!
