What I'm reading now: Showstoppers

I'm reading "ShowStoppers", by G. Pascal Zachary, which describes the effort to build the first version of NT. I'd recommend it.

It was a very impressive accomplishment, and the book describes the magnitude and sacrifice to accomplish such an engineering feet. It's amazing that such a large company was able to undertake such a complicated project, without collapsing under the weight of some bureaucracy. 100s of millions of people use NT today (Windows XP is from the NT lineage). NT, which shipped in 1993, will easily clear the 20 year mark. It's impressive to be able to produce a software product that is consumed by so many people, for such a large variety of tasks, and that lasts so long.

It's 300 pages, but goes very fast. I'd highly recommend it.
