When Headlines Go Bad

Read the story at https://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1820228,00.asp. Then read the headline. Do that a couple of times. I've been doing that for the past 20 minutes trying to figure out how they got "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Breaks Apps" from a story that starts, "Microsoft Corp. is looking for a few good men … and women, and, ultimately, applications that can help the company check for compatibility between the current version of the .Net Framework and the version coming in Visual Studio 2005." I'm pretty intimately involved both in the tremendous efforts involved in making sure that nothing we do affects application compatibility from version to version. This headline has nothing to do with what we're doing or with the actualy story for that matter.
